Parental controls on Netflix
Did you know that you can choose the types of TV shows, movies, or games your kids can watch or play by managing their profiles individually or by creating a profile with the Netflix Kids experience.
Protecting our children from harmful content is not only our responsibility, but also an opportunity to set healthy boundaries in terms of the content they are exposed to. I love the fact that Netflix is offering the needed tools and settings to empower us as parents and to help children make better viewing choices.
In July, Netflix hosted an event in Johannesburg, where the spotlight was put on the role players and necessary collaboration needed to ensure our children’s safety. As a panellist, it was encouraging to be part of the conversation and discuss practical ways to achieve this.
Before handing the remote control over to your children, have a look at the following and start using parental controls:
- Create a profile for kids
- Set profile maturity ratings or block titles
- Lock your profile or other profiles on your account
- Require a PIN to add a new profile
- Turn autoplay previews on or off
- Adjust autoplay settings for TV shows
- Access viewing history for a profile
Let’s remember to guide our children to choose wisely what they watch when they visit family or friends, because other homes might not have the same controls in place.
