The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has revised its November 2026 payment schedule to minimise disruptions during the upcoming Local Government Elections.
The elections are scheduled for 4 November, which falls within the usual social grant payment period. SASSA adjusted the dates following consultations with stakeholders, with National Treasury approving the revised schedule.
According to the announcement published by the South African Government News Agency (SAnews), the revised payment dates are as follows:
- Older Persons Grant: Friday, 30 October
- Disability Grant: Monday, 2 November
- Children’s Grants: Tuesday, 3 November
- Grants under review: Thursday, 5 November
The revised schedule means that beneficiaries receiving the Older Persons Grant will receive their November payment before the end of October. The other main grant categories will be paid in the first few days of November.
Why Has SASSA Changed the November Payment Dates?
SASSA changed the schedule to ensure social grant payments can be administered efficiently and securely during the election period.
The original 2026/2027 payment schedule placed some November payment dates close to or on the election date. The revised arrangements are intended to reduce potential disruptions and allow beneficiaries to access their grants according to the updated schedule.
SASSA has urged beneficiaries to use its official communication channels for accurate information about social grants and to be cautious of misleading claims about payment dates.
What Should Beneficiaries Know About the November Payments?
Beneficiaries should take note of their revised payment dates and plan accordingly. Those receiving the Older Persons Grant should remember that their November payment will be available from 30 October, rather than in November.
Beneficiaries whose grants are under review should also pay attention to official communication from SASSA. The agency has set aside 5 November for payments relating to grants under review and reminded affected beneficiaries to respond to requests for information and attend review appointments when required.
Beneficiaries do not need to rush to SASSA offices simply because the dates have changed. Payments will be processed according to the revised schedule.
For the latest information, beneficiaries should check SASSA’s official communication channels before travelling to an office or making arrangements based on information shared on social media.

What Beneficiaries Should Remember
The November 2026 social grant payment cycle will begin on 30 October because of the Local Government Elections. Older persons’ grants will be paid first, followed by disability grants on 2 November and children’s grants on 3 November.
Beneficiaries should use the revised dates to plan their monthly expenses and rely on official SASSA announcements for any further updates.
