A gloriously illustrated story of a robot's adventures in the wild, steals the hearts of everyone who sees the film. This is exactly what happened to Rianette Leibowitz, managing editor at BabyYumYum when she saw the film The Wild Robot. She also spoke to representatives from Pan Macmillan and United International Pictures.
25 September 2024 – The Wild Robot is a story about the heartwarming and action-packed illustrated novel exploring what happens when nature and technology collide. Author Peter Brown’s book has come alive on the big screen and DreamWorks Animation once again, created a film that offers the most beautiful visuals and music for families to enjoy together.
When robot Roz opens her eyes for the first time, she discovers that she is alone on a remote, wild island. She has no idea how she got there or what her purpose is, but she knows she needs to survive. After battling a fierce storm and escaping a vicious bear attack, she realises that her only hope for survival is to adapt to her surroundings and learn from the island’s unwelcoming animal inhabitants.
As Roz slowly befriends the animals, the island starts to feel like home – until, one day, her mysterious past comes back to haunt her.
“There are so many thought provoking themes addressed in the film such as motherhood, kindness, looking after our precious planet and perseverance. This story gives parents the opportunity to have conversations with their children about how we can identify with the challenges faced by the characters and how we can learn from them to apply it to our own life adventures”, says Rianette Leibowitz, Managing Editor at BabyYumYum.
With rights sold in 15 languages and over 100,000 copies sold around the world, this is a book that has been loved by many. With beautiful black and white art throughout, this is a book to cherish: perfect to read aloud and enjoy with a younger child, or for an older child to read alone.
“Watch the film and read the book to spark your child’s world of imagination and enjoy quality time together as family. I absolutely loved the film, the voices, the music and everything about it! I hope you do too.” concludes Leibowitz.
The book, the Wild Robot is aimed at readers 9 to 11 years old. The animation has an age rating of 7-9 PG.
