Businesswoman Londy Mazwide, candidly talks divorce, co-parenting and building her brand with Goodwill Thomo.
Businesswoman Londy Mazwide has established an esteemed reputation for herself as a prominent and influential figure in the business sector of South Africa. Known as a top-rated event planner, Mazwide is the owner of thriving events company Andimahle Building Events, dedicated to providing its clients with unforgettable experiences. Her professionalism has earned her numerous accolades.
The mother of three has also embraced her role as a close confidante to the cast of season 4’s The Real Housewives of Durban (RHOD).
Who is Londy Mazwide?
She is a young lady from a small area called Mandeni, just outside Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. I studied at Stanger where I matriculated and went on to study at the Durban University of Technology. I studied marketing management and spent four years in the UK working as a personal assistant and a caregiver to the elderly.
I returned to South Africa and continued my studies at the UNISA (University of South Africa) in Marketing Management. I then went to work at the Department of Agriculture as a PA. In 2007, I decided to open my own business. I started in the construction phase.
Later, I developed a passion for events, opened my own company and now I do events for the private sector and the government. The growth of my business was a result of advertising my work on social media platforms.

Did you grow up with an interest in business?
My grandfather was a prominent businessman, and I take after him because he loved business. I didn’t have a mentor, but I just loved organising things. As I mentioned, I used to work for the Department of Agriculture, so I used to organise events. That’s when I decided to make it a career.
How was your upbringing?
I grew up in a family filled with love. My father was a polygamist, so I have many siblings. I am the youngest, but I have become an inspiration to my family. Now, they have all started their own businesses. Despite the challenges I faced in my career and business, I inspire everyone else.
What 3 words would you use to describe your personality?
I am a calm and calculated person who is mindful of my reputation and brand. I am not easily approachable, but I am strategic in my communication.
What are the most difficult obstacles you have encountered?
My divorce-it was quite a challenging one. But I have faced a lot of challenges in my business too. However, I’m ambitious and goal-driven, and I like to take risks. I’m not one to give up easily.
Talk about life after your divorce?
I had to conquer that because I have children who look up to me. I have people working for me to whom I have become a mentor and an inspiration. For me, it has always been a matter of if things don’t work out, don’t force it, just accept it as difficult as it may be. Love needs to be reciprocated. If it’s no longer served, you must stand up and leave the table. We didn’t see things eye-to-eye.
Co-parenting is not easy, but we need to put our differences aside and make sure that it becomes more convenient for the child. It has been challenging for me and my ex-husband. I believe we are getting there slowly but surely.
What are you most grateful for?
I am grateful to God for sustaining me over the years, and I am grateful for my children, mom and siblings. They have all become my strength.
Tell us more about your children.
My oldest child, Andisi (18), is currently in his final year of high school. My second child, Amahle (16), is in Grade 11. And I have a five-year-old son named Nkazi.
Andisi is a dedicated rugby player, Amahle enjoys singing and is a member of the school choir, and she also plays netball. Nkazi is a racer and I support him on his journey.

How do you find motherhood?
It’s an amazing experience because my children make it easy. I also have a very committed helper who has been with us for the last 14 years.
I am a firm mother, yet I have come to understand the importance of building a friendship with my children. It is crucial that they feel comfortable confiding in me without fear. Motherhood has taught me that making mistakes is part of the journey. Being a supportive friend to my children is essential.
I’ve also realised the importance of time with them because they are my top priority. I prioritise spending time with my children by carefully planning our holiday activities and balancing our travel adventures, such as our recent trip to Dubai.
How is your business going?
My brand is doing extremely well and I’m receiving a great deal of support from people, including on social media and even from celebrities. I am thankful for this, and it makes me incredibly happy.
What dreams do you still want to achieve?
I have always wanted to own a wedding venue because it aligns with my interests and skills. I hope that the academy school where I teach decoration also succeeds. I am gradually breaking into the television industry. I am also focusing on establishing my brand as a successful businesswoman.
What made you choose to be a friend of The Real Housewives of Durban (RHOD)?
From the first season, they have been extending invitations to me, but I was not prepared because of personal reasons. By the time season 4 came around, I was eager to join the show. However, I initially wanted to start as a friend of the show before considering becoming a main cast member. I have no regrets. I had a great time with the ladies.
