The popular Mzansi Magic realnovela, a spin-off of Uthando neS’thembu, continues to follow the lives of businessman Musa Mseleku’s children as they navigate young adulthood, relationships, independence and finding their own identities while growing up in one of South Africa’s most well-known polygamous families.

This season promises to take viewers deeper into the lives of the Mseleku siblings as they face new challenges, from complicated relationships and personal struggles to business pressures and the responsibility of carrying their family legacy forward.

Returning cast members include Mpumelelo Mseleku, Sne Mseleku, Lwandle Mseleku, Abongwe Mseleku and Mpilo Mseleku, alongside the younger generation of the family, including Mnini, Owami, Mawande and Thando. Viewers can also expect familiar faces such as Khwezi Mazibuko, Tirelo Kale and Amahle Biyela, who will play an important role in the family’s unfolding story.

As the children step further into adulthood, they are forced to make difficult decisions, discover who they are outside of the Mseleku name and navigate the expectations that come with being part of such a public family.

With Musa Mseleku’s health reportedly becoming a concern, the siblings are also faced with the reality of stepping up and proving that they are ready to carry the family’s legacy into the future. Ahead of the premiere, Izingane zeS’thembu Season 4 promises viewers an emotional and honest look at love, family, growth, resilience and the challenges that come with finding your own path.

Mpilo Mseleku says returning for Season 4 was about continuing to share her story and allowing viewers to see a different side of her journey. She explains that every season captures a new chapter of her life and this time she wanted to be more open about her growth.

What made you say yes to returning for another season of Izingane zeS’thembu?

I said yes because I felt I still had a story to tell. Every season reflects a different chapter of my life and this one captures a version of me that viewers haven’t really seen before. I wanted to be honest about where I am emotionally and let people see my growth beyond what they may have assumed about me.

Since viewers first met you, how do you think you’ve grown or changed, both personally and within your family?

I’ve grown a lot emotionally. I’ve become more comfortable with expressing how I feel instead of keeping everything bottled up. Within my family, I’ve also learned that my voice matters and it’s okay to stand firm in what I feel while still loving and respecting the people around me.

What was the experience of filming this new season like for you? Was it different from previous seasons?

Very different. This season was much more emotional because I allowed myself to be vulnerable. In the past, I think people mostly saw the surface, but this time, they get to see the pain I’d been carrying and how I navigate it. It felt more real because I wasn’t hiding behind a brave face.

Without giving too much away, what can viewers expect from your journey this season?

Viewers can expect honesty. They’ll see me navigating difficult emotions, learning more about myself, leaning on the people I love, and finding strength through it all.

What’s been the biggest challenge of having your life documented on reality TV?

The hardest part is knowing that people only see small pieces of your life, but they often form complete opinions about who you are. It can be difficult because there is always so much more happening behind the scenes than what makes it onto the screen.

On the flip side, what’s been the most rewarding or enjoyable part of being on a reality show?

The most rewarding part has been connecting with people. It’s encouraging when viewers reach out to say they relate to something you’ve gone through or that your story made them feel less alone.

Reality TV often comes with public scrutiny. How do you handle people’s opinions about you and your family?

I’ve learned that not every opinion deserves my attention. People will always have something to say, whether it’s positive or negative. As long as I know my truth and the people close to me know who I am, I try not to let outside opinions define me.

Coming from such a large family, how do you stay true to yourself and make sure your own voice is heard?

I’ve learned that staying true to yourself starts with knowing who you are. In a big family, it’s easy to get lost in everyone’s personalities and opinions, but I’ve become more confident in speaking up respectfully and standing by my values without feeling like I have to compete with anyone else.

How would you describe your mindset as you head into Season 4?

I’m entering this season with a mindset of growth and healing. I’m choosing honesty over everything and I’m giving myself permission to be seen. I think that’s one of the bravest things anyone can do.

Why should people watch?

People should watch because this season is the realest. It’s not just about the drama, it’s about growth, family, friendships, resilience and seeing different sides of the people you’ve come to know over the years. I think viewers will laugh with us, cry with us and hopefully take something meaningful from the journey.

Tune in to the new season of Izingane zeS’thembu from 20 August 2026, airing every Wednesday and Thursday exclusively on Mzansi Magic. This season takes on a realnovela format, giving viewers a deeper and more intimate look into the Mseleku family’s journey.
