As South Africa’s 2025 matric results continue to make headlines nationwide, pride and celebration are echoing far beyond school halls. Among those marking the milestone are South Africa’s celebrities who have stepped into the spotlight not for their own achievements, but to celebrate the academic success of their children.
The Independent Examinations Board (IEB) results, released on Monday, 12 January, recorded an impressive overall pass rate of 98.31% for the 2025 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations, slightly lower than the 98.47% achieved by the class of 2024.
Meanwhile, those who wrote through the Department of Basic Education (DBE) achieved an overall pass rate of 88% for the NSC examinations, with KwaZulu-Natal emerging as the top-performing province. This marks a steady improvement from 87.3% in 2024 and 82.9% in 2023.
Celebrities such as reality TV star Nonku Williams, musician Duncan and others took to social media to proudly share and celebrate their children’s outstanding matric results, joining families across the country in this moment of joy.
Nonku Williams
Sharing her pride on social media Monday, the ex-Real House of Durban star celebrated her daughter Nothile Williams’ remarkable accomplishment. Nothile, whom she shares with late gospel star Sfiso Ncwane, passed matric with a bachelor’s pass and two distinctions.
“Beyond proud of my daughter @williamsnothile for passing her matric with two distinctions and a Bachelor’s pass! 🎓✨ All glory to God — with Him, all things are possible. His guidance made this journey beautiful,” she wrote.
Duncan
The rapper was equally thrilled as he announced his daughter’s impressive results, revealing on Facebook that she sailed through matric with a bachelor’s pass and two distinctions.
Kgomotso Christopher
The Generations: The Legacy actress Kgomotso Christopher was overjoyed as her daughter, Larona Christopher, passed matric with flying colours. Larona achieved an impressive six distinctions.
Larona received a message on X from @vutivi_m on Monday, 12 January, congratulating her on her success.
An excited Christopher replied: “Thank you so much. We are so proud of her! Congratulations to my Alma Mater @StMarysWaverley. Class of 2025!! Indeed, my “little” one, Larona Lehakwe, outdid herself. Hard work pays off, and God is good.”
On her Instagram Stories, the Fatal Seduction star confirmed that her daughter received six distinctions.
