Snack time
My almost-one-and-a-half-year-old daughter loves eating the dog’s dry food. It’s a fight to keep her out the bowl every morning and evening when the dog gets his supper.
So now I just let her have a few pellets whenever we feed him – it won’t do her any harm and it’s so much easier than having the same fight over and over again.
Deny, deny, deny
I have a three year old with a fiery temper. Sometimes when he throws a particularly bad tantrum in the shops, I walk further down the aisle (keeping him in sight, obviously), look on in horror and pretend he’s not mine.
A little fib
‘Sorry, the kids were being an absolute nightmare and wouldn’t get in the car.’ That’s the excuse I use whenever I’m running late, which is most of the time.
And, if I’m honest, it’s me that makes us late more often than the kids.
Danger!
My son is allergic to wheat so whenever I’m eating something I don’t want to share (like chips!) then I tell him he’s allergic. It works every time and I don’t even feel bad about it.
Mommy needs a lie-in
I taught my four year old how to turn the TV on to Cartoon Network so that she can entertain herself for an hour or two before I have to get out of bed.
&%#$
My toddler has picked up a couple of bad words at nursery school. I’m trying my best to be strict about discipline but most of the time I’m just exhausted and I pretend I don’t hear her when she swears. #JustTryingToSurvive
A little help
My son wears my Fitbit to his after-school soccer games. There’s no way I’d make my 10000 steps a day goal otherwise.

Mama’s ‘workout’
When I’m really exhausted and can’t stand the thought of entertaining my child all afternoon, I’ll go to the gym just so I can leave her in the kid’s activity room while I have a smoothie at the coffee shop.
A taste of his own medicine
I’m a stay-at-home mom and when I go to the shops and my kids are at home with their dad, I reeeeaaally take my time so that he gets a small taste of what it’s like to be alone with them.
Parenting tax
If one of my kids goes to a birthday party and gets a party pack, I take it away and say they can have it back next weekend. That gives me enough time to check what’s in it and help myself to the best bits.
