Veerash Srikison, advocate, mediator and director: Fair Practice
Adv Veerash Srikison is an admitted advocate and the founder of Fair Practice, a dispute resolution services organisation based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Fair Practice is the 2022/2023 South African winner of the Mediation Firm of the Year award. She is a cum laude graduate of the Arbitration Foundation of South Africa (AFSA – University of Pretoria) in Alternate Dispute Resolution. She is the lead trainer for Fair Practice and AFSA (Arbitration Foundation of South Africa) in mediation and negotiation skills. Over the past 10 years she has trained over 500 professionals from all sectors, including Chief Executive Officers, presiding judicial officers, senior members of the Bar Council, HR Practitioners and delegates from the South African defence force, in Mediation, Negotiation and Communication & Conflict Management. Using her mediation and negotiation skills, she has guided multiple organisations and conglomerates in South Africa through processes in settling their disputes amicably without resorting to lengthy and costly court battles. She is a Harvard School of Law trained mediator and negotiator and has presided as a judge in Civil/Commercial Mediation and Negotiation competitions globally. She is also an internationally accredited civil/commercial mediator and negotiator through the Centre for Dispute Resolution (CEDR – UK) She is the South African representative within a global network of accomplished mediators representing their countries at various conferences and social media platforms. Her work in the Negotiation and Mediation fields of legal practice globally has earned her the World Law Alliance award as a Prominent Woman in International Law 2023. Veerash is a trustee of the organisation Matla A Bana – A Voice Against Child Abuse. She works closely with the South African Police Services in volunteering her time to assist women and children where needed. Her passion for giving people a voice to reduce emotional trauma in disputes has made her an invited keynote speaker at numerous conferences and events nationally and globally. Her endorsement, to hearing the voice of the child in all matters related to the child began in 2014 and has remained her community focus ever since. Resulting in Veerash obtaining an LLM (University of Pretoria) with a distinction merit for her dissertation on mediation in Child Law. She is currently a doctoral candidate with her focus on Mediation and Children’s Rights. She has become a known speaker on all media platforms around the world, endorsing peace over conflict and the empowerment of the vulnerable through her work as a mediator and negotiator in high conflict disputes.
